Taking Your Cycle in the Indian Railway Train [Podcast]

Ideally, I would want to service my cycle properly in a nearby cycle shop or by myself at home and then start off on trips from my doorstep itself. But that will hardly ever happen, especially cause cycling in India is a bit more challenging than I would like. Much easier to fly of to another country and cycle there. :)

So, a typical cycle tour would include flights, trains, ships, buses, (bullock-cart? :p) to transport the cycle. Earlier, I wrote in detail about taking cycles in the flight for international trips. But within India I have used trains extensively. Depending on the journey often they are the most convenient transport option. So here I share more about taking our cycle in the Indian railway trains. Rules, procedures and so on…

Check out my second travel podcast episode:

Note: I forgot to mention in this episode that when you go to deliver the cycle in the luggage office do carry a photo identity proof and one xerox copy with you. Because if you have to go outside to get a xerox copy, which I often have had to do, then it is too cumbersome. The luggage office is often in a middle-of-nowhere location and the xerox office maybe quite far off.

There is more I can talk on this stuff. Different experiences and best practices but I will do that in another episode. I am trying to keep my podcast episode length at 13 mins. :)
