My Travel Life

In September 2019, I moved to a rental apartment in Coimbatore. As I was still exploring the city and living-on-my-own lifestyle, COVID hit us and we were all rooted in one place whether we liked it or not.

I spent two lockdowns in this Coimbatore house. And I setup a home-base for me in Ahmedabad.

Naturally, considering the weather, Coimbatore is now my Summer home while Ahmedabad is the Winter one. I love both these houses from a “base” perspective. A base for me explore further and deepen my sadhana. They both, in their own way, help me deepen the kind of lifestyle I want to live – full of solitude and satvic stuff.

It’s interesting because after a lot of travelling (for context, in 2018, I was travelling for 7 months in the whole year), I was anyway looking for a natural reset and a suitable ‘home base’. And as I found one, in Coimbatore, COVID also brought the world to a reset.

Now, 2 years after COVID, I find myself picking up the threads of the earlier life.

Considering various travel plans, and at the same time appreciating both my home bases.

I am trying to figure out how to balance ‘proper’ travel and spend time in both these homes. It’s a good problem to have. Especially because, I can only consider this because COVID seems to have mellowed down (for good, hopefully).

Due to these two home-bases, I did travel during the COVID years, if only from Ahmedabad to Coimbatore (& Isha Ashram) and back. And a couple of trips to family homes in Surat and Bangalore.

Only one actual solo travel – 3 Weeks in Uttarkashi in November 2021 (attempted vlogging :D)

And another family trip – 10 days in Palitana, Jain pilgrimage center.

Lols, seems like I have been traveling after all. :p

However, no long adventures spanning a few months.

I am planning another cycle tour in 2023. But not sure how long it can be, cause I am happily employed in a remote project currently. But hopefully, by then international travel would get easier as before.

If you want to follow quicker updates, as usual – my Instagram is the place to look. 🙂

Will post more soon. Maybe it is this new look and feel of the blog that has prompted this post (second post of 2022!) and maybe it will continue. 🙂

Indians Traveling to Nepal: Visa, Currency, Language & Other Information

I visited Nepal in early June. While as an Indian, I didn’t require a visa to enter the country, there were a few other aspects which I found out only once I was there. Some of it was great, like how popular Hindi is as a language over there. But some of them were...

Why Traditional Dharamshalas Don’t Allow Solo Pilgrims

There is one primary reason I hear when I ask "why solo travellers are not allowed a room in the traditional dharamshalas?" That is: "they might commit suicide" Yes. I am serious. They might commit suicide. Like people never travel alone. The only ones who do are...

Bangalore (Chikkaballapur) to Ahmedabad (Adalaj) Solo Self-Drive via NH 52 in My WagonR

Until a few days earlier, I thought NH 48 was the obvious choice for this journey from Chikkaballapur on outskirts of Bengaluru to Adalaj on outskirts of Ahmedabad. However, surprisingly Google maps suggested the NH 52 route at that time (though now when I checked to...

Arunachala Mahadeepam, Tiruvannamalai: My Solo Yatra on Karthik Purnima

Finally, after many years of thinking and considering, I went to the Arunachala Mahadeepam 2023. It is an overwhelming prospect due to the millions of devotees who flock to this small town of Tiruvannamalai to partake in the event on the full-moon night of Karthik...
