These long form travel blogs take a while to write. It has come to a situation that I simply cannot jot down blogs on a weekly basis, though it is a very enjoyable and constructive activity. I have too many other things that I am very excited about on my plate right now – it includes completing a small travelogue book. (Yay!).

So for this blog I am planning now to write only one post a month, and it would be the deeper ones. Like the one about my Untold Stories or Summarizing my 9 years of solo travelling. I don’t want to be writing the quick kind of posts that you can get easily elsewhere too. I want to take my time and actually think through my travel adventures, the implications and the thoughtful situations. I also want to focus on creating content about cycle touring because there isn’t much info available on that for an Indian.

If there are specific topics you feel I should write on, let me know.

You can catch up on my ongoing travel adventures (I am nomad-ing and in different places quite often) on these other platforms which require less effort to update. Moreover, the content on each of these different platforms tends to be a little bit different, so another reason to find me there 🙂

Instagram:

Images (of course!) and sometimes short stories about my explorations and experiences – typically they are very recent and predominantly travel related. A lot of people like my photographs. You can check it out:

More or less I consistently update stuff here, though I am not the most fond of this platform…. but for now I am there. 🙂

Twitter:

This is the platform I am most comfortable with. And typically even in my most away-from-digital days I do send out a tweet or two, though not necessarily travel stuff. My twitter feed is about mostly-positive current events, travel, yoga and a little bit of growth marketing work. To follow my travel updates specifically you can follow #maproute. It includes a feed of this blog too.

Monthly Email Newsletter:

Maproute Monthly, my email newsletter includes a longer write up compared to Insta or Twitter and I delve into a little bit of my behind the scenes travel planning. This newsletter also includes any new posts written in the past month and a new travel song recommendation (for time pass :p).

You can sign up here if you like,

That’s about it.

I have a whatsapp broadcast list also. It is mainly for family and friends. But if you are really keen on getting some of my updates then you can ask to be added there too. The more exciting the trip is for others like a cycle touring adventure, the more frequent updates I post there.

And if you are looking out for me on Facebook, then check out my page Maproute. Personally, I am not active on the platform due to its manipulative timeline. But I do keep the page active with automated updates and Instagram posts.

I am working on some quick videos. But I really can’t guarantee how soon I will publish more frequently on my YouTube channel. Sometimes I feel it’s easier to quickly record a video and then edit it using a mobile app as opposed to using my laptop for writing long posts.

Having a podcast channel would be ideal in some ways because it’s a lot easier to record and also for you to consume maybe. But I am stuck at beginning problems like where to launch it, how to get my intro and such specs in place. 🙂 Let’s see.

It’s amazing how we are churning out content easily in so many formats and platforms, isn’t it? If you think about it, it’s all so new, and yet feels so comfortable already. What do you think? How do you like consuming travel updates and travelogues?

Picking Up the Threads of My Travel Life, as COVID Mellows Down (for good, hopefully)

In September 2019, I moved to a rental apartment in Coimbatore. As I was still exploring the city and living-on-my-own lifestyle, COVID hit us and we were all rooted in one place whether we liked it or not. I spent two lockdowns in this Coimbatore house. And I setup a...
