Coimbatore or Bangalore - Which Adiyogi should you plan for? What is the difference?
Yogeshwar Linga Mandapam below Adiyogi

On 15th Jan 2023, the second 112 ft Adiyogi Shiva statue was inaugurated at the newly established Sadhguru Sannidhi ashram in Chikkaballapur, roughly 70 kms from Bengaluru city. Since then, many people who had always wanted to visit the Adiyogi, but never ended up going on a trip to Coimbatore, got a chance to visit the Bengaluru Adiyogi.

They wonder whether the Coimbatore Adiyogi is any different? Other devotees planning their trip wonder whether they should visit Coimbatore or Bengaluru on their first Adiyogi visit? I will answer these and more questions in this blog post.

I also published a video with all these details, you can view that here (it has a lot of cool footage of both the Adiyogis)

Coimbatore vs Bengaluru Adiyogi

I am evaluating the two Adiyogi’s based on 4 factors that would matter to any visitor,

Visual appeal

The geographical landscape of both the spaces is quite different. Coimbatore Adiyogi is flat land with a hill range at a distance. It feels more spacious.

The Adiyogi in Bengaluru is situated right within a hill range. So, the hills are much closer, the space is undulating making for a very different ambiance. Visitors need to walk uphill and downhill as they explore the place.

However, I have met very few people who had a clear preference for one or the other Adiyogi’s visual appeal. Usually, people feel awed by the larger-than-life sculpture in both the places.

So, in terms of Visual Appeal I would rate both equally

Temples

The Adiyogi visit is combined with powerful temple experiences also. Both the Adiyogis have the Yogeshwar Linga. The Adiyogi statue and Yogeshwar Linga are a combo – know more about it in my detailed blog post on Yogeshwar Linga:

The Bengaluru ashram has the Naga kshetrapaal deity which is a powerful experience. The entry way from Naga temple to the Adiyogi is very powerful.

The Coimbatore ashram on the other hand has all the other temples including the one and only Dhyanalinga temple. Sadhguru took 3 births, in order to, consecrate this linga with all 7 chakra energies in it. The linga bhairavi temple and teerthakunds are also here. However, these temples are almost a kilometre away from Adiyogi statue.

On the other hand, the Bengaluru center will be created around the Adiyogi statue – giving it a very different and powerful feel. Though, for now only the Naga temple is here. The Nandi statue and Trishul have also been consecrated in this center and add charm to the visitor’s experience.

In terms of Temples, I feel that visitors should plan a visit to each of the centers at some point of time 😊 Which ever trip happens first, you can experience those temples.

In terms of Sadhguru’s temples, I would consider Dhyanalinga the most important – for obvious reasons that Sadhguru took this birth only to consecrate that temple. Everything else, is add-on because he lived.

Foods & Facilities

Considering that Coimbatore has a better developed ashram, the facilities are significantly better. There are many more toilets, ATMs, shaded mandapams to relax for some time and so on. However, these are often spread around a distance, so visitors may have to walk more. The Bengaluru Adiyogi space on the other hand is smaller in comparison – at this time because all the temples and stuff haven’t been constructed yet – thus, walking for different facilities could be lesser. Though, do note, that the Bengaluru Adiyogi has undulating landscape which would lead to some uphill walking at times.

Especially, during heavy crowded events like Mahashivratri or some big pournami, Coimbatore might be better simply because it has more facilities. This would reduce the queues.

Complete Ashram Package

Coimbatore ashram provides you with a complete ashram experience. They have cottages you can book in advance and stay a few days. They have daily free yoga programs and paid retreats you could register for. A health rejuvenation center, meditation halls, Sadhguru sathsangs on specific days, festive celebrations and lots more.

While the Bangalore center is much more bare bones in this sense though it is fast developing.

However, as of now, Coimbatore offers you a complete ashram package – if you plan. This is a big advantage.

In summary, if you are planning a trip specially to experience Adiyogi – then plan for Coimbatore. As you can get a much deeper experience by staying there for a few days.

If Bangalore is a lot easier for you to visit – due to family or friends in the city or maybe your work requires a trip anyway – then you can visit Adiyogi outside of Bengaluru and get a great experience as well.

Powerful Kaal Bhairava Spots Outside Kashi

Kashi is almost synonymous with Kaal Bhairava. Even in the mythological lore, Kashi is the place where Kaal Bhairava settled after doing prayaschit for cutting Brahma’s fifth head. The very popular Kaal Bhairava ashtakam refers to Him as “Kashi ka puradhinath” i.e....
